From a tour de force to the world’s best…
There will be three major cycling events taking place in Otley in 2019, the Tour de France legacy event the Tour de Yorkshire will once again be passing through the town in May.
Otley Cycle Races are next up in July, while the very best in the world will be in Yorkshire for the 2019 UCI World Cycling championships.
The Tour de Yorkshire May 2-5, 2019
The magnificent Tour de Yorkshire will once again be coming through Otley – this year on Stage Four, the final day, of the men’s race on Sunday May 5.
While the race is not expected to pass through Otley until the late afternoon, the town is expected to be busy throughout as the medium and longer amateur Sportivs are also routed through Otley.
The race itself will take on the following route: Carr Road, Otley Bridge, Manor Sq, Kirkgate, Bondgate, Gay Lane and East Chevin Road. The latter is expected to be particularly busy as it’s a super steep climb.

Stage Two of the Men’s Race and Stage One of the Women’s Race will pass nearby Otley on Friday May 3 as riders go through the neighbouring village of Pool in Wharfedale on the way to Leathley.
2019 LOGCO Otley Cycle Races – July 3, 2019
When you’ve had the like of Mark Cavendish, Jeremy Hunt, Adam Blythe, Jonny Clay and Chris Walker as winners, it’s little wonder that the Otley Town Centre Races are the most prestigious criteriums in the British racing calendar.
In its 34th year, the 2019 races are set to carry on a long tradition of world-class cycle racing in Otley for men, women and younger riders of both genders.
Races take place on a closed circuit around the town and start at 6pm, with the last race, the hour-long Property Development Otley GP Race beginning at 8.50pm.

UCI World Championships –September 21-29, 2019
Yorkshire will host another huge international cycling event in September when the UCI World Championships come to the county.
The women’s elite and men’s elite races pass through the town on Saturday September 28 and Sunday September 29 respectively – but Otley is a great place for visitors to base themselves.
Not only are within a 20-minute drive of the main event hubs in Harrogate, but we also have some great accommodation options meaning Otley is a great base for visitors.
Otley’s famed as a pub town and our hostelries will once again be following the tradition of re-naming themselves for significant events. This time, each pub will take on the mantle of a different country – and each will be themed after their new name.
