Visit Otley releases first new publicity film for 2023

Visit Otley today (January 31, 2023) releases a new publicity film showcasing all the fun that can be had on an evening out in the historic Yorkshire market town.

Featuring a number of Otley’s restaurants, bars and gig venues against a pulsating indie guitar pop soundtrack the film plays on the town’s usual Make A Day Of It slogan, asking visitors instead to Make A Night Of It.

Otley has long had a reputation of being a place to enjoy the great outdoors, learn more about its long history and enjoy some incredible independent shopping. Now its night-time tradition as a ‘pub town’ is being supplemented with the opening of a number of stylish cocktail bars, gig venues and high-end restaurants, as well as Otley’s first microbrewery and tap room, Shadow Brewing.

The film is the first in a new 2023 series to publicise all Otley has to offer for residents and visitors alike. While Make A Night Of It is a new addition, the other four films in the series – Family Fun, Independent Shopping, History and the Great Outdoors – will all serve as updates to existing Visit Otley publicity materials.

The films have been made with the support of Otley’s Town Coordination committee, which is made up of stakeholders including Otley Town Council, Otley BID, Otley Chamber of Trade and Otley Town Partnership.

Chair of Otley BID, which provided funding for the project, Katie Burnett said: “We are proud to have been able to provide funding for this new set of five films publicising Otley. Our four previous films were produced in 2017 and were in need of updating, having served their purpose gaining thousands of views and spreading the word about Otley far and wide over the last five years. In that short time, the new versions certainly highlight the progress the town and its businesses have made in what we offer to both residents and visitors.”

Chair of Otley Town Council’s Trade & Tourism Committee Cllr Paul Carter said: “Despite our tradition as a pub town, publicity around visiting Otley has mainly focussed on the daytime economy. With a wealth of choice now available, including restaurants offering Modern British, Italian, Greek, Spanish, Moroccan, Indian and Thai food, a thriving gig scene and some stylish bars, there’s never been a better time to make a night of a visit to Otley.”

The films have been produced by Otley’s tourism communications agency Endure Communications and Menston-based MChar Media. They will appear on the Visit Otley and Buy in Otley sites, as well as on the town’s social media channels Facebook and Instagram.
