Otley Baroque brings light and warmth this winter with Spanish Baroque music

As winter settles over Wharfedale, Otley Baroque is delighted to share the launch of their Winter Festival — three beautifully contrasting concerts designed to bring light, warmth, and exquisite baroque music to the coldest weeks of the year.

The opening concert on 24th January is given by Vivify, a 6-piece vocal ensemble directed by Alexander Kyle, the music director of Otley Choral Society. Vivify will guide you through a musical journey from evening into night and back to the first glow of morning.

On 31 January, the Cafe Baroque concert is held at Sancta Cafe at Orchard Gate. A string trio led by Asuka Sumi, the founder of the series, performs vibrant Spanish music in a relaxed cafe setting. This afternoon’s performance is ideal for newcomers and regular listeners alike.

On 1st February afternoon, the Bridge Church will be transformed to an 18th-century salon in Madrid. Expect virtuosity, lively dances, and rich instrumental textures performed by La Tirana (Pablo Tejedor-Gutiérrez, cello, Sonia Hrechorowicz, harpsichord) together with local baroque specialists – a joyful burst of winter colour to close the festival.

Asuka says, ‘We hope to welcome many of you to three iconic venues in Otley to cheer up the winter mood! The Festival Pass will allow you to access all three events with a special combined rate.’
