What’s on in Otley in August 2024

Welcome to another great month of events in Otley for August 2024. With the kids on holiday, there are loads of things for them to do, but don’t worry mums, dads and everyone else…. We’ve got you covered too!

August 1st is, of course, Yorkshire Day, and the Otley Bellman Terry Ford will be making the Yorkshire proclamation at noon at the Maypole and again shortly after in Market Place.

On Friday, August 2nd, things take on a Spanish feel over at Tapas & Tunes on Kirkgate where guitar duo Duckworth and Duprez are bringing you modern Spanish Guitar Wizardry! Traditional Spanish, flamenco inspired jazz, romantic raw rumba underpinned by a love of rock! Amazing ambience with a background of Tapas and Sangria!

There’s fun for toddlers on Saturday August 3 at 2pm at the Courthouse. Opera North: Little Listeners – Mini Vixen is a fun, family-friendly adventure into the forest. Our adventure takes place in a mystical woodland where a Vixen meets a Fox. As their friendship grows, they discover how working together is vital to protect their home and the habitat around them.

Throughout August, the The Flowerpot Festival continues in Kirkgate Arcade until the end of the month. Head down to the Victorian-era arcade to make creations from flower pots and get the chance to win prizes.

Every Wednesday in August we have a Kids Free Funzone in Market Place from 11am to 3pm. Kindly funded by Otley BID sessions include climbing walls, art, dance, song and more. The free activities are suitable for children aged 2-13. Head down there on August 7th, 14th, 21st and 28th.

More Spanish culinary adventures can be had again at Tapas & Tunes when the popular eatery teams up with popular wine shop Chez Vin on Thursday, August 15th. David from Chez Vin will be taking participants though a wine and tapas adventure.

Barbie is the movie matinee at the Courthouse at 2pm on Thursday August 15th. Barbie and Ken are having the time of their lives in the colorful and seemingly perfect world of Barbie Land. However, when they get a chance to go to the real world, they soon discover the joys and perils of living among humans.

Of course, on the last Sunday of the month, it’s Farmer’s Market in Market Place from 9am to 1pm. Head down to pick up some great locally sourced produce.
