Yorkshire Day and fun for all the family
We’ll be celebrating Yorkshire Day on Tuesday in a big way this year… The town is covered in Yorkshire Flags, the Otley Bellman will be giving the Declaration of Integrity first at the Maypole on Manchester Square, then again shortly after on Market Place and there’s a special exhibition that cements Otley’s reputation as a pub town.
Otley Pub Club is hosting an exhibition of images of the pubs of Otley at the Black Horse from Tuesday through Sunday with the exception of Thursday. It promises to be a fine few days, but that’s not all we have for you!
What to do in the six week holidays
Summer’s here, school’s out and the weather is all over the place. You make plans one-minute to be outdoors and it’s raining, the next you’ve planned an indoor visit and the sun’s shining. Meanwhile the kids are getting bored and would rather be on their devices all day.
Good job then that we have so much to do in Otley over the summer that we’ve managed to compile a whole article’s worth of fun, from free bouncy castles in Market Place on Wednesday’s throughout the month, to soft play and pottery making options if the weather is unkind.

New alcohol-free drinks shop opens
A new shop Functional Drinks Club opens in Manor Square on August 5th selling non-alcoholic drinks including kombucha where you take your own bottle and they fill it up for you. You can grab a free glass of the fermented tea to try it out with a free ticket.
Free music around town on Saturdays
Every Saturday in August between 11am and 1pm there will be Music on the Streets of Otley with busking slots at Orchardgate, New Inn Court and the Buttercross.
The Chevin gets a right royal beer festival
Head to York Gate on the Chevin on Saturday August 12 for the Royalty’s Beer Festival. Starting at 1pm there will be food, music and beer with entry costing £10. An unlimited drinks package for 2 people costs £125.

Play along to a classic album
The Woolpack Music Studios is hosting Recreate a Classic Album this Friday: Rumours by Fleetwood Mac at Otley Social Club on Friday August 18 from 7.30pm where songs from the classic album will be played in their original order. All welcome to play and sing – there’s also an online option for those pining for the good old days of covid (or who simply can’t make it).

Mama Mia and Maverick on outdoor screen
There are two outdoor movie nights at Otley Rugby Club on August 25th and 26th. Friday night sees Mama Mia light up the silver screen while Top Gun Maverick will be played on Saturday.

This month’s Farmers’ Market
Farmers’ Market will be held in Market Place this month from 9am to 1pm on Sunday August 27th. Make sure to get down early for the best local produce.
