What’s on in Otley this August

If you’re stuck for things to do with the kids over the Summer Holidays, don’t worry… We’ve got you covered in Otley!

First up are the superb free Wednesday sessions held in Market Place from 11am to 3pm. Organised by Otley BID and Breeze Leeds, the sessions include a host of activities and things to do, from bouncy castles and climbing walls to story time sessions and arts and crafts.

Activities vary week on week…. more details can be seen on our Events Calendar here.

Head on to the Wharfe with Otley Boats

Wharfemeadows Park is packed with things to do, including a playground, open-air gym and tennis courts, but one of the best is to take a rowing boat or a pedalo out on to the water with Otley Boats. Opening times vary over the summer depending on the day and the weather conditions. Please check their Facebook page for more details.

What about the weather?

Yes, we’re in the north of England and the weather can be changeable, but two of the town’s businesses can take care of you if you want to stay out of the rain. Buttercups cafe and soft play area (left) in the Westgate Arcade is ideal for the kids to let off some steam. If you want a more relaxing afternoon, for you and the children, try Puffin Pottery (right) where you can take part in arts & crafts together.

Over at the Courthouse

There’s plenty to do at Otley Courthouse over the summer too… First up is a screening of Disney’s The Lion King on August 11 (above), followed by a number of kids workshops including Salt Dough fun for Under 5s, Dye Tote Bags for 12+ and Make Your Own Treasure Maps for Over 6s.

This month’s Farmers’ Market

Our regular Farmer’s Market takes place on Sunday August 28 this month in Market Place from 9am to 1pm. It’s packed with local produce from surrounding farms, so why not pop down with the kids and see if they can pick up a new fruit or vegetable to try!

For these and other events in Otley this month, please see our events guide.
