Queen’s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations announced

Free boating on the Wharfe for children under 15, a special proclamation by Otley Bellman Terry Ford and a street party in Market Place are just some of the events organised in Otley to celebrate the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee over the long weekend of June 2 to June 6.

Celebrations will kick off in the town’s pubs that will be renamed in the long-standing Otley tradition for the celebration, while there’s also a window dressing competition in partnership with the Otley Carnival.

Highlight of the weekend will be the street party Jubilee Lunch from noon to 3pm on Sunday June 5. Those wishing to attend are asked to pack their own lunch, chairs and picnic blankets for the celebration that will feature music from Otley’s Ukulele Orchestra and the Woolpack Choir led by Richard & Jen. There will also be craft activities for children.

Elsewhere, a beacon will be lit on the Chevin on Thursday June 2, there will be a special celebration Jubilee Jaunt walk as part of Otley Walking Festival (also on June 2), a special screening of The Queen at the Courthouse on Saturday June 4 and a festival of sport at Prince Henry’s on Monday June 6.
