2021 Walking Festival programme released

With Welcome to Yorkshire launching the Tour de Walkshire in May, there’s more great news for local and visiting walkers, hikers and trekkers in Otley with the announcement of the programme for this year’s Otley Walking Festival, which celebrates its 20th edition in 2021.

Set to be held from June 26 to July 4, this year’s festival will feature a unique new addition Eavesdrop – A Sonic Nature Trail. The two-mile, 1.5 hour self-guided walk will start in Gallows Hill and finish at the White House and will feature a sound installation, accessible by scanning VR codes on the route. Created by James Hamilton, the recordings feature local wildlife fused with a musical underscore. Check out the QR code locations here: www.james-hamilton.co.uk/eavesdrop.

The festival will launch at the Parish Church on June 26, with daily activities held throughout the coming week with a series of walks designed to appeal to all. Themes include a pub walk, an orienteering course, a blue plaques walk and a wheelchair accessible walk.
