Covid-19 and visiting Otley

Visit Otley would like to extend its sympathy to all those who have been affected either directly or indirectly by the Covid-19 crisis.

Like many other destinations around the world where tourism is a strong contributor to the economy, Otley, its businesses and residents face a unique set of challenges caused by the worldwide outbreak and spread of the disease.

Our main priority remains as always with the safety and wellbeing of the general public. To facilitate this, we have created this webpage to help share information about the latest situation in Otley.

The current situation is as follows (Updated – April 15, 2020)

Many Otley businesses are open and operating as normally as possible under the circumstances. Shops have initiated unique ways to offer delivery of products to people’s homes in an effort to help those who may be self-isolating and unable to venture into the town. A list of these is being constantly updated by Otley BID on their Facebook page. The direct link to the relevant post can be found here.

Sadly, many of the town’s events have been postponed or cancelled. A number of larger events that have been made known to us include the cancellation of the Otley Coffee Festival, Tour de Yorkshire, Otley Show and Otley Carnival. Arts venue Otley Courthouse is now closed until further notice.

Our surrounding outdoors and countryside, including Wharfemeadows Park and The Chevin are open and can be visited as normal for the time being – but please remember to follow social distancing guidelines and to not travel by car to exercise.

There’s no doubt this is an uncertain and unsettling time for everyone, everywhere, but we’re in this together.

Stay safe and look after one another.
