This year’s Otley Food & Drink Festival is just two weeks away – and this year’s celebration will be bigger and better than even, with more than 50 stalls selling good quality, locally sourced produce, and a full programme of events including a cookery theatre with demonstrations by local chefs from within Otley and Otley Farmers’ Market.
This year’s show will see the Cookery Theatre get a new MC too in the form of Simon Chappelow.
Simon, who has worked at a variety of restaurants across Yorkshire, has a real passion for passing on his food knowledge and now works for Zest as Food Projects Coordinator at the Jamie Oliver Ministry of Food.
The Ministry of Food program is an eight-week cookery course to help people improve their cookery skills, discover new techniques and find ways to shop more affordably and sustainably. The cookery school in Leeds is now well established and in the seven years that he has been managing the projects, thousands of students, from all backgrounds, have benefited.
Hi latest project is a group of speciality classes at the Leeds Cookery School that draw on the knowledge of the best chefs in the region.
As well as MC-ing, Simon will also be providing hisown demonstration in the Cookery Theatre at 3pm.
Pop down to the FREE festival for food and wine tastings, local breweries, live music, children’s entertainment and much, much more. A tasty day for all the family.
