DESCRIPTION:Harry Orme is a performer\, composer and educator based in L
 eeds. As a singer-songwriter\, he has toured across the UK and Europe an
 d has opened for some of his favourite artists (including Big Thief\, Sc
 ott Matthews\, Tiny Ruins\, Sara Watkins\, Ciaran Lavery and Emily Portm
 an). He has also had the pleasure of collaborating as a sideman/arranger
  with some of his favourite Yorkshire-based songwriters (including Chris
  Brain\, Elanor Moss\, George Boomsma and The Silver Reserve). He has be
 en part of the improvised music scene in Leeds since moving here in 2010
 \, during which time he has shared bills with Mike Walker\, Iain Dixon\,
  Craig Handy\, Nikki Iles\, Iain Ballamy\, Stan Sulzmann\, Stian Carsten
 sen\, Mark Nightingale and Clark Tracey.\n\nAs well as writing music for
  his own projects he has also work as a freelance composer and arranger 
 - a couple of recent highlights include being commissioned to write a pi
 ece for the Ilkley Literature Festival in 2021 and arranging the strings
  for George Boomsma’s 2021 EP Chinatown (as well as his forthcoming LP
 ).\n\nAlongside his work as a performer/composer\, education and communi
 ty music have been a large part of his practice for much of the last dec
 ade. As well as teaching guitar/composition privately\, since 2013 he ha
 s been privileged to work with Live Music Now to bring workshops and par
 ticipatory performances into SEND schools and homes for those living wit
 h dementia.\n\nHe graduated with distinction from the MMus programme at 
 Leeds Conservatoire in 2021\, during which he was lucky enough to study 
 with Stuart McCallum (The Breath\, The Cinematic Orchestra)\, Lauren Kin
 sella (Snowpoet\, Seafarers) and Dave Hamblett (The Magic Lantern\, Sama
 ntha Whates\, Josienne Clarke). His main area of research for his master
 ’s degree was the integration of procedural/algorithmic composition te
 chniques into his practice as a singer-songwriter.
