Otley Street Festival - Sunday 17th July 2011 (11am - 10 pm)

Otley Street Festival

Now into it’s fourth year, this year's Street Festival is due to be the biggest and best yet, fun packed for all the family with absolutely something for everyone. This festival has grown from year to year, featuring the best young musical talent that Otley has to offer, an increase in variety of street performers and exciting new fun attractions, such as an inflatable climbing wall.

The festival originated four years ago in a very small and intimate way as a 'thank you' from the retailers on Newmarket who felt that they wanted to give something back to the community. From then its grown year on year taking on a much wider and greater aspect.

The Otley Street Festival Organisation originally had a dual aim, to raise the awareness of Otley as a unique market town being a fantastic place to visit and to aid tourism, with the spin-off of helping local business. It has now also become a beacon for young local talent within our community, giving young bands possibly their first taste of performing on a stage to such a large audience.

The line-up is great this year. There will be eleven bands on stage with the Rough and Ready Boys being the head liners, along with Reel Jiggy, Joe Gallaghar, Curfew, Little Wolfe, AKA, Insomnia ,Mechanical Eddie, Malorie Green and Musical Fusion plus solo artists and buskers. The music starts at 1.00 pm and continues on until 10.00pm. There will be a lot of rock n rolling going on with the Jolly Jivers, on Newmarket again, from 12.00 onwards and back again by popular demand, our beautiful belly dancers.

The great Punch & Judy is coming back again this year, along with the all-time favourite bouncy castle, the new inflatable climbing wall, stilt walkers, face painter, unicyclist/ Juggler and living statue and, of course, the shops will be open. There’s be so much to do - so little time!!

In 2010 we had the support of Otley town council and have been lucky enough to gain their financial support again this year. In addition, due to the success of last year, we have also gained the support of; Leeds City Council, Otley Town Partnership, Otley Lyons, Otley Community Council and Otley Chamber of Trade.
